YOUR MORNING DISCUSSION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everybody, we’re starting off in the 30s to 40º with some westerly breezes that will continue for a time today, but shouldn’t gust much over 25mph or so as our final winter trough departs to the east.
As an upper ridge and surface high pressure starts to track east towards our region, winds should slacken later today and tonight with highs under mostly sunny skies reaching the mid to upper 50s with lows tonight dropping into the mid 20s to low 30s due to radiational cooling and clear skies.
We rebound on Friday as a warm front wends its way toward New England. High pressure will shift south of us and initiate a southerly flow that will drive high temps up and into the low to mid 60s with full sunshine early, and clouds increasing by afternoon.
Some isolated showers will be possible later in the afternoon and evening, but the impact should be felt by a comparative few, and showers should be on the lighter side. I believe many of us will be dry by later Friday night with lows hanging near 50º behind the front.
This will set us up for a very warm day on Saturday, with highs slated to soar into the 70s across the region.
However, it will be mostly cloudy, though some sunny breaks are possible and if they linger long enough some folks could crack 80º briefly!
This will also come with some scattered showers by early to mid-afternoon lasting into the evening ahead of an incoming weak cold front. Ahead of this front, southerly wind gusts that began later Friday night will continue Saturday, but shouldn’t get much above 30mph, though maybe a bit higher in the hilltowns.
Lows will dip into the 40s as we dry out, and northwest flow will cool us down for Sunday with highs in the mid 50s to low 60s under sunny skies. It’s nice to “cool down” to 60º!
Lows dip to the low to mid 30s and then we’ll enjoy a party sunny day on Monday to kick off the work week with highs either side of 60º under mostly sunny skies, which will cloud up late as another warm frontal boundary pushes in for Monday night into Tuesday with more scattered showers.
By the middle of next week some of us may be approaching 70º again, so as you can see, we’ve turned the corner into our next warm season, as this past cold season fades into the rearview mirror.
Thanks for the many messages about my winter coverage for the Winter of 2024-25, it was my pleasure to be your storm sherpa for our 12th consecutive cold season!
Have a great day!
