>>> DAVE’S WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL <<<
–North to northwest wind gusts of 15-35mph today have already maxed out, some close to 40mph in CMass
–Rain will not make it west of Worcester County, dry in WMass, much of northern CT and SVT, some showers in SWNH possible
–Lee pulls away to the northeast, and sunny breaks will develop later in western parts of our region, possibly into CMass, too
–Highs upper 60s to low 70s, breezy
–Wind tamps down tonight, clearing, lows upper 40s to low 50s
–After patchy fog Sunday morning, Sunday is lovely, dry, sunny highs 70s lows 50s with clouds in increasing and a few showers late
–Monday is NOT the pick of next week as our second Great Lakes trough swings a cold front and a low pressure center developing along it through the region on southwest flow with increasing humidity
–How close and how fast this low center develops and tracks to the region will be important to watch, as it could rain pretty hard at times, with thunderstorms as well so isolated street flooding has to be watched for
–After that, Tuesday through Friday look beautiful: dry, mostly sunny, light wind, highs 70s, and lows 50s, and that may extend into the following weekend, but before we get into this afternoon’s severe weather details let’s check a note from our local weekend sponsor, #GerardGhazeyBatesPC, an estate planning law firm in Northampton, MA.

>>> MORNING DISCUSSION <<<
Good morning everybody, thankfully Lee has passed well east of us, and aside from clouds and some gusty winds at times, the rain has stayed east as well as it is just too dry on Lee’s western flank, which we’re under at the moment.
Some showers have made it into CMass but those have been light and only laid down a few hundredths of an inch of rainfall.
Winds have gusted anywhere from 15mph to almost 40mph from west to east (WMass into CMass), and as we get some sun this afternoon to warm us up along with drier air moving, some more wind may mix to the ground as Lee pulls away, so a breezy afternoon is expected at times with highs either side of 70º.
For tonight, clearing will continue and lows will drop to the upper 40s to low 50s with lower humidity air becoming reinforced. As such, patchy fog should form late.
Sunday is the pick of the weekend with plenty of sunshine, warmer temps well into the 70s, and dry conditions.
Clouds will increase at night with lows in the 50s, and humidity will be coming up in advance of a wave of low pressure and associated warm and cold front combo that moves through on Monday.
If we can get into the warm air Monday, we could see some showers, downpours and thunderstorms, which should make it up into CT if not all of the greater WMass region (SVT, SWNH, WMass, CMass and NCT).
Some isolated street flooding is possible if the frontal low center really develops and tracks close enough to us, so while I’m off tomorrow and Tuesday through Friday, I will most likely report on Monday as it could be a more active weather day than originally thought.
Past Monday, we enter a reinforcing shot of Canadian air (or it enters us?) with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s, with plenty of fair weather that may last into the following weekend, for a great multi-day DRY stretch that is going to be welcomed for sure.
Hope you have a great day, and if warranted, I will reporting on Monday and will keep an eye on those developments, enjoy the rest of your weekend!
>>> BE KIND <<<
“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
–Kurt Vonnegut
