DAVE’S WEEKLY WEATHER NUTSHELL
It’s some 25-30º cooler this morning than yesterday and the Lunar Eclipse has set below the horizon. It’ll be blustery and cool today with a very cold night ahead, followed by a cool Wednesday, a milder Thursday, and rainy and windy Friday night into Saturday with downpours, and a much cooler end to our weekend heading into next week, but before we jump into the details, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with their newest location in West Springfield, MA.

WEATHER REPORT
Good morning everybody, in comes the colder weather and to counter the many collective groans I’m imagining that the reality of the incoming season may be prompting, let’s do 5 sets of 5 eyebrow raises, with 5 sets of alternating sideways-mouth stretches (aka “smiles”).
For comedic effect, do it in front of a mirror, and sprinkle in a few pinches of extra goofiness – that is your prescription for today!
As for our weather, it’s another double–dash morning, and when you’re done reading check my 2023 weather calendar as not only are the local photos really sweet, the piece has way more regionally historical and educational weather content that ever before – it’s as local a WMass calendar as you’ll find, I’d argue.
SUMMARY
–A huge area of high pressure (1044mb for the other nuts out there) is sprawling southeast out of Canada toward the greater WMass region
–This is interacting with lower pressures east and south, and will produce northerly gusts of 20-30mph today, slackening to 10-20mph this evening
–Highs will only reach the mid 40s to mid 50s from north to south, and lows will crash into the upper teens to mid 20s: a 45 degree drop from just 2 days prior!
–Those super low temps are predicated on the wind really dying out over northwest MA into SVT/SWNH, otherwise we all sit down into the 20s under clear skies
–For Wednesday, said high pressure continues to track southeast over New England, which will tamp the wind down and still provide for cool highs in the low to mid 50s under sunny skies
–Lows will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s under mostly clear skies
–For Thursday, that high keeps tracking southeast into the ocean, and that turns our flow more southerly, which will bring high temps into the low 60s, with lows in the low to mid 40s
–By Friday, an upper level trough will swing into the Great Lakes region with an attendant cold front at the surface
–At the same time, the remnants of Hurricane and/or Tropical Storm Nicole will be swept north and then northeastward along this frontal boundary, and tons of moisture will be hurled northward
–This will cause Friday to become cloudy with highs in the low to mid 60s, and showers should arrive by sometime in the later afternoon
–Rain will pick up in intensity at night and it will rain hard at times, and it will be quite windy too, with gusts 25-40mph, so a quick little tempest looks likely at the moment, though there is some chance that storm track may change, so stay tuned for updates and refinements
–Saturday morning starts rainy and windy and then we dry out in the afternoon as the storm pulls away
–Highs will reach the 60s, but as the cold front sweeps the region, will drop to near freezing for lows, and then Sunday and Monday look quite cold with highs only in the low to mid 40s under partly to mostly sunny skies
Have a great day, and please do pick up one or a few 2023 weather calendars as the locally-snapped photos are serene and beautiful, and you’ll learn a ton of cool weather stuff including local storm history (order info at my website):

“Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you’ve got a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies: Goddamn it, you’ve got to be kind.”
