TODAY’S DATE: Wednesday, February 9, 2022
As Ringo Starr said in the recent Get Back documentary, “morning, everybody, another bright day”. I hope everybody slept well and is filled with vim, vigor, and a peppy step to proceed right out and make the day go your way.

And if not, I’ve been there, too, most recently this past Monday!

We’ve got some black ice potential on our side and dirt roads this morning, so approach the rolling and ambulating with about 10% trepidation, and 90% confidence – a between-the-ears mixture for successful navigation!

Luckily we do have a bright sunny day ahead, but do have some mixed showers overnight and cool down by end of the weekend with a bit of storm potential, but before we dive into the details below, let’s check a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, with a new location in West Springfield, MA.

DISCUSSION:
Well, hello! We’re engaged in respiration, circulation, and hopefully ample amounts of mentation and cognition, so let’s jump in.

High pressure will be moving east and just to our south today, so that will slacken winds and keep them light out of the southwest and south for the most part, gusting to maybe 10mph.

Sunshine will rule the day, and highs will reach the upper 30s to low 40s for the most part, with some mid 30s for the southern Greens in VT.

Clouds will increase tonight, yes they will! A warm front is approaching as you can see on the attached chahts.

As lows settle down into the upper 20s to low 30s, the moister air will lift up and over the colder air in place after midnight and produce some scattered snow showers.

These snow showers will last into the early to mid morning timeframe, and should mix with rain at lower elevations in the Pioneer Valley especially from Northampton southward into CT. A few coatings are possible at the higher elevations.

Otherwise, Thursday is a mostly cloudy day with highs again in the upper 30s to low 40s, with lows in the mid 20s.

For Friday, mostly sunny skies will visit us thanks to another area of high pressure, and highs will again reach the upper 30s to low 40s with lows in the low 30s.

For Saturday, a pretty strong cold front will be approaching the region from the west, so clouds will increase. However, southerly winds may kick up to 20mph gusts at times as highs climb into the 45-50º mark for a day before we cool down Sunday into early next week.

Behind the Saturday afternoon cold frontal passage we’ll crash into the teens for lows Saturday night with a few snow showers possible into Sunday, which will turn out be a cold partly sunny day with highs only in the mid 20s to low 30s, with lows in the single digits to low teens – quite cold Sunday night.

We then watch Monday for a potential coastal storm that is still more likely to either graze us with some snow showers, or go out to sea to our south, but we can’t rule out some more northern stream interaction that may pull the storm closer to our region, so stay tuned for updates.

Cold conditions are expected through early next week, with highs in the 20s and lows in the teens on northwest flow.
