Good morning, folks, it’s chilly out with some temps in the low to mid 30s (others milder) and we’ve got some fog patches, so visibility is lowered and a few slick spots are possible. Otherwise, we have a super sweet day ahead with very mild temps that may approach 70 in spots! The big weather news is heavy rain forecast for Friday, and it could get windy out of the south as well, with a nicer, cooler weekend ahead.

Before we jump into all of the details below, please check out a note from our local and delicious sponsor, #TandemBagelCo, who just opened a new location in West Springfield, MA.

SUMMARY:
–After patchy fog burns off, high pressure to our south floods the region with dry, warm air, with highs expected to reach the upper 50s to upper 60s!
–Abundant sunshine will combine with those temps to produce a day that is worthy of savoring. We’re not going to get too many more of these before the cold season fully sets in
–For tonight, a weak wave of low pressure will track north of the WMass region, through northern New England and will drag a cold front through the region
–Lows will dip into the upper 30s to low 40s with a few scattered showers after midnight into the early to mid morning hours, especially north of the Pike
–For Wednesday, skies clear up by late morning, and sunshine develops, with highs in the 55-60º range with a northwest wind that will gust up to 25mph at times as the cooler air works in
–We’ll have a very cold Wednesday night develop as wind slackens, dry air filters, and skies remain clear
–This will allow lows to drop into the mid to upper 20s overnight
–On Thursday, we should start off mostly sunny but some clouds will dot the skies as the day wears on, resulting in a partly sunny afternoon, with highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s as our maturing storm over the Ohio Valley tracks into the Great Lakes

–This will send its occluding frontal boundary east toward New England, clouding us up Thursday night with lows in the low 40s
–After midnight, rainfall will move into the region, likely before dawn on Friday morning
–Rain will fall heavily at times, as secondary low pressure is likely to develop along that front and track south to north through our region
–We may see breezy conditions as well, and we can’t rule out a thunderstorm or two as this wave of energy pushes through
–Highs will be mild with southerly flow, reaching the low 60s during the day
–Showers end at night with lows either side of 40º
–The weekend looks nice as of now with partly sunny skies on average and highs in the low to mid 50s Saturday and mid to upper 40s Sunday
–However, uncertainty remains around additional energy moving through Sunday night into Monday
–This may kick of rain and snow showers across our region, especially Sunday night
–Cooler air certainly reasserts itself across the region into next week, so enjoy what may be one of if not the last episodes of The Mildening for the WMass region before the cold season arrives more deeply
