Good morning folks, we’ve got some light wintry weather on the way tonight, mainly for the high terrain west of I-91 in WMass, southern VT, eastern NY, and possibly areas of northwest CT.

We start off with some sunny periods this morning, but clouds will overspread the region, and it will be mostly overcast by afternoon.

Highs will reach the mid to upper 30s in the high terrain, and low to mid 40s in valley locations.

We could see a few snow or rain showers lift through the region around early afternoon with the first wave of warm air advection, but it’s more toward later afternoon and early evening when scattered showers should increase in coverage and press into the region to the northeast.

Mixed showers are expected in the aforementioned high terrain areas, and the northern Berkshires, northwest hilltowns (Middflefield/Worthington/Chesterfield, on northward) and southern VT tonight, with a combo of light snow, sleet and freezing drizzle, so some slippery road ways may develop in those areas overnight.

The rest of us lowlanders may see a few flakes or pellets mixed in, but we should see mainly cold rain showers overnight, with lows in the mid 30s and then sightly rising overnight as milder air works in on southeast winds gusting to 20mph at times, which should flip any icy precip over to rain, except for the highest sheltered valleys in the southern Greens, where icing MAY hold on in isolated spots towards dawn.

For Monday, morning showers should give way to drying as a cold front comes through the region, with winds veering from southwest to northwest and gusting 20-30mph as colder air works into the region.

Monday highs in the mid 40s to low 50s will drop as the day wears on with the colder winds, and lows will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s at night, with a few lake effect snow showers possible in the Taconics, Berkshires or SVT at night.

For Tuesday, cold high pressure works into the region, with sunshine and cold highs in the 35-40º range with lows in the low to mid 20s under clear skies.

Wednesday will see another storm system passing to our north (possibly our pattern for this upcoming winter) which will produced a mostly cloudy but mostly dry day with highs in the mid to upper 40s.

By Wednesday night into the first half of Thanksgiving Day, a second wave of low pressure will run through the region, as the low pressure to our north with the best atmospheric lift associated with it is too far away to have much effect.

Therefore, expect scattered showers Wednesday night with lows in the upper 30s to low 40s, extending into and through Thanskgiving morning, after which highs will reach into the low to mid 50s.

Precip should quit by early/mid afternoon from west to east, leading to a cloudy night with lows in the upper 30s to near 40º.

Friday through Sunday look seasonable and dry with partly sunny skies and more rain possible early next week.

I hope you have a great day, and please consider supporting my work here through purchasing my 2021 Weather Calendar today as my sale ends TONIGHT… they make great holiday gifts, or a gift to yourself, and you can shop safely from home thank you!
