Good morning everybody, we’ve got some radiation fog out there (i.e. fog that forms when heat radiates skyward overnight, cooling to the dewpoint, and forming fog), but that will burn off as temps come up this morning with the rising of our reliable star.
As an aside, isn’t that amazing? The Sun keeps rising, the Earth keeps spinning, we keep orbiting, what a reliable piece of cosmic clockwork we’re a part of!!
Ok, hippie, get back to the weather!!!! ;-)
With strong high pressure still in control and off to our southeast, underneath a giant anomalous upper level ridge that continues to help generate our “subsidence inversion” (subsidence refers to sinking air. Air sinks, compresses and warms under upper level ridges and surface level high pressure cells, sometimes leading to warmer temps aloft than surface, which is why temps again this morning are warmer higher in elevation).
This inversion continues to generate not so great air quality, especially in valleys, because the air can’t really mix with air aloft to freshen up the place. That will end after tomorrow.
Highs today will reach the 70s and possibly even 80º in a few spots! We’ll have a light south wind, so I highly suggest you get outside and soak up the warmth while it’s here, because it’s the last sunny AND warm day for a while.
For tonight, fog may become more widespread, as higher humidity advects into the region, with dew points possible above 60º! Low air temps will drop into the upper 40s to mid 50s everywhere, unlike the past few nights.

For tomorrow, clouds will increase as moisture works up the eastern seaboard and joins hands with an incoming cold front to generate atmospheric lift and produce showers over the region by later in the afternoon.
It does look like the heaviest rains from this system will fall south of the Pike, but I will have more info on that by tomorrow morning.
Highs Wednesday will reach the low to mid 70s with south winds gusting up to 20mph or so ahead of the frontal passage.
So, expect a mostly cloudy morning, some showers in the afternoon, and then the steadiest rain and/or most numerous shower coverage moves through Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Lows Wednesday night will be in the 50s.
On Thursday, morning showers will abate sometime in the afternoon, especially north of the Pike in MA, VT and NH.
Highs Thursday will be noticeably cooler, likely hanging in the mid to upper 50s, with mostly cloudy skies through the day. Skies will slowly clear Thursday night as the front kicks east, but temps will drop into the mid to upper 30s for lows.
Friday and Saturday look gorgeous, but Autumnal, with mostly sunny skies, fair conditions, and highs in the low 50s Friday ( with lows in the mid 30s) and only mid to upper 40s for Saturday (with lows near freezing).
By Sunday, another storm system will be passing to our northwest and will swing another cold front through by Sunday night with more rain and snow showers expected.
In other words, Saturday is the weekend pick, but we should at least get partial sunshine in here on Sunday before showers move in at night and into Monday.
Looks cool next week, with lake effect snow showers possible with northwesterly winds on Monday for the Berkshires, Taconics, Litchfields, and southern Greens, spilling into the western hilltowns. Have a great day and be sure to do some of your holiday gift shopping with yours truly, I’d be so grateful for your support!
