Western Mass Weather for June 6, 2020

[ONE FINAL MUGGY, SUMMERY AND POTENTIALLY SHOWERY AND THUNDERY DAY FOR OUR SATURDAY, THEN COOLER AND DRIER INTO THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK… HOWEVER… A FEW SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE TOMORROW AS AN UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM SWINGS THROUGH… MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY LOOK THE SUNNIEST/DRIEST…. LATE WEEK HOLDS CHANCE FOR MORE RAIN… NO SUPER HOT WEATHER ON THE HORIZON JUST YET… 7:50AM SAT]

Good morning peoples of the Golden West, we’re starting off quite warm and humid this Saturday, and that is most certainly a sign of things to come this day.

A cold front is on the approach for this afternoon, but before that arrives on our shores, highs will reach well into the 80s for most of us, and some of us will hit 90 degrees before the day is done. Skies will be mixed sun and clouds today.

Dewpoints will rise well into the 60s to near 70 degrees, so a very muggy day is in store.

In addition, a broken line of isolated to scattered showers, downpours and thunderstorms will form this afternoon, and one or two storms could become strong to severe, with damaging straight line winds being the main threat. A widespread severe outbreak is not expected.

Behind the front late this afternoon and evening, south winds should turn around to the west, and gust to 25mph at times, ushering in much drier air and cooler temps with lows expected to drop into the low to mid 50s under clearing skies.

For Sunday, much drier air will be in place, but an upper level system will be diving southeast through New England.

While we should see partly to mostly sunny skies, we’ll have periods where clouds block out the sun in the afternoon, and a few showers will be possible here and there. However, it will not be a widespread rain event. Highs will be in the low 70s or so, and lows will drop into the upper 40s as showers abate and skies clear.

Monday through Wednesday looks gorgeous with high pressure building into the region, and it will be mostly sunny, warm, and dry.

Highs Monday will be in the 70s with lows in the 50s. Tuesday and Wednesday will see highs reach the low to mid 80s with lows near 60.

By Thursday and Friday, some scattered showers will be possible as high pressure dominance breaks down over the region, and temps should cool a touch as well.

No big summer heat or severe weather outbreaks on the horizon yet, folks, but keep an eye to the western sky today in case an isolated storm gathers strength. I will keep an eye out and post here if any impactful weather is looming later.

Have a great Saturday…
