2017 Annual Donation Drive – Help to Keep DHTWN On The Job

You never know in advance how an idea will work out. When I started my Facebook page, I wanted to offer my weather reporting to my friends who were interested, and spare the ones who weren’t. Six years later, almost 24,000 of you rely on me to alert you about whatever weather is on the way. As a result of this growth, all the work that goes into producing timely, accurate, and hyper-local weather information occupies more and more of my time and energy, and leaves less time for other work.

This is why I sponsor an annual donation drive. Before I consider moving to a subscription model, I want to see whether my service is providing enough value for you so I can keep going on a volunteer donation basis.

I LOVE what I’m doing, and I want to keep doing what I’m best at and most passionate about, but I need your help to sustain it.

Whether it’s $60 or $120 ($5 or $10/month averaged over a year), or $10, $25, or $50+, or even $5, $10 or $20+/month as a recurring way to support my work, any amount helps me greatly.

The weather happens when it does, morning, noon or night, weekday or weekend, and I want to continue to be here and make you my priority when impactful weather strikes so I can report, answer questions, update, educate, and advise as many of you as humanly possible. Up to this point and for 6 years now I’ve been increasingly dedicated to producing reliable hyper-local weather reporting to help individuals, families, businesses, organizations, and municipalities plan around and within regional weather impacts, and to help protect life and property.

In essence, I’ve made you all my priority when it comes to advising you about impacts to your plans, travel, and safety. I want to continue to help you, but I also need you to help me.

WHAT YOU GET BY SUPPORTING MY WORK ON MY FACEBOOK PAGE
-Your own personalized weatherman
-Answers to your specific questions
-No advertisements or marketing hooks of any kind
-Zero hype or sensationalism, though I do get excited sometimes ;-)
-Detailed information about the whys and hows of our weather
-A weather nut who treats you like a thinking, grown, intelligent adult, rather than someone only capable of handling summary and surface details
-A sense of community on this page where you can interact with your neighbors, get an idea of road conditions, and other impacts
-A weather forecast for folks without access to cable, and for the more rural parts of our region that are vastly underserved by traditional outlets, such as the Berkshires, the hilltowns, southern Vermont, western Worcester County and more!

You may notice that while other weather outlets are free, they don’t match the depth, interactivity, personal responses, and hyper-local detail that I provide. My hope is that the people who value my regional weather reporting who have not yet contributed (and also those who have donated in the past) will step forward and help keep me viable and able to continue doing this work for a long time to come.

In closing, I want to thank you very much for your support today, so please click the link below to donate and help keep me working for you!
